Run for Undergraduate Student Government this Spring!

Undergraduate students meeting qualifications may run for one of twenty (20) elected positions within the Undergraduate Student Government. Elected positions include one (1) President and (1) Vice President (who run on the same ticket) , and eight (8) Directors as well as ten (10) Senators representing ten (10) academic colleges.

Candidate Checklist:

Candidate applications open January 24th at 9:00 A.M.

*Deadline for these steps is Feb 26th, 2024 at 9am.

  1. Read about Undergraduate Student Government via our Charter

  2. Review the Elected Position Descriptions.

    1. Elected Director Position Descriptions

    2. Elected Senator Position Descriptions

  3. Review (and record in your personal calendar) the Election Schedule/Timeline.

  4. Review the 2024 Election Rules.

  5. Sign and save the Candidacy Agreement Signature Page Candidates must print off the first page, sign it, and email it to oeader@kent.edu.

  6. Prepare a platform (Campaign Platform Guide)

  7. Platforms for individuals candidates have a 300 word limit. Platforms for President & Vice President have a 600 word limit.

  8. Fill out the Candidate Information Form: This form will make sure your name appears as a candidate to collect signatures and will also be emailed when your application and Candidacy Agreement is accepted by the Election Commission.

  9. Gather signatures by sharing the USG 2024 Election Petition Signature Link.

Senatorial Debates: March 12th from 6-8:30PM in the Student Center Room 318

Directors and Presidential Debates: March 14th from 6-8:30PM in the Student Center Governace Chambers
